Attica Group rewards outstanding pupils and university students on Greece’s remote islands, in collaboration with the civil non-profit company ExcellenSeas

Committed to supporting local communities and helping them to develop, Attica Group is continuing its collaboration with the civil non-profit company ExcellenSeas for the third year in a row, offering scholarships to outstanding pupils and university students on our remote islands.

Faithful to its commitment to adopt responsible policies and practices throughout the range of its business activities and to work with local communities with the aim of creating and ensuring mutual long-term value, Attica Group is adding yet another action to its initiatives in the education sector.

Support of outstanding school and university scholars of Greece's remote islands mitigates the differences between these islands and the country’s urban centres in terms of educational opportunities for young people, and at the same time it shows Attica Group’s confidence in the human resources these islands are producing.

The sole purpose of the civil non-profit company ExcellenSeas is to reward outstanding pupils and university students on our remote islands by providing scholarships. The selection of scholarship recipients is carried out by ExcellenSeas, and the programme is supported by a Scientific Committee made up of active and emeritus professors of Greek and foreign universities, and of prominent persons distinguished for their ethos and academic accomplishments. In the initial stage, the ExcellenSeas programme extends to remote islands in the Administrative Regions of North and South Aegean with fewer than 2,000 permanent residents.

Attica Group is engaged in passenger shipping through SUPERFAST FERRIES, BLUE STAR FERRIES, HELLENIC SEAWAYS and AFRICA MOROCCO LINK operating 32 vessels providing modern, high-quality transportation services in Greece and abroad. Attica’s vessels serve 60 unique destinations in 4 countries, connecting 71 ports transporting over 7 million passengers, 1 million passenger vehicles and 400,000 trucks every year.
